As an architect I am always on the look out for contractors that provide the level of care and commitment to the project that we have. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Josh and the team and hope to have to opportunity to work with them again soon. One of the things I have been most impressed by with Compound is the buy-in their entire team has. They all share the directors passion for high-performance/green building and have the level of care, on site, that you always expect with owner operators, but often do not get with apprentices or even the site foreman. The desire, and commitment, to deliver excellent buildings to their clients is reflected in their workmanship. High level of finish, attention to detail and going the extra mile are all traits I have seen exhibited throughout the project we recently worked on with them.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Compound - they are professional, reliable and trustworthy. They delivered our high performance new build house on time, under budget and to a very high level of workmanship. Communication was clear and prompt throughout the project, and any questions were resolved proactively. It was a pleasure to work with Josh, Drew and their awesome team.

It's currently the middle of winter, -4 degrees outside and our home, built by Compound, hasn't dropped below 19 degrees all winter and we're yet to receive a power bill (with a little help from our solar system too). I haven't had to chop wood or mop the inside of a dripping window either. We didn't have a multi-million dollar budget or aspirations for a fully certified passive house. We wanted well-designed, well-built, simple, but high performing home that is always comfortable through Queenstown's freezing winters and baking hot summers. And man, does this house deliver on that. We started working with Compound really early on in the design phase, which meant we were able to take advantage of Josh's wealth of knowledge in both general building and of passive house construction. Once we pressed go, the build process was seamless. The team started on site in February and we moved in in November – on time and, if you can believe it, under budget. This was particularly impressive as at the time the building industry was experiencing crazy price fluctuations and supply challenges post-Covid. Josh, foreman Todd and the whole team were great to deal with. We (and our architect) were so impressed by their care and attention to detail, even on the bits you can't see once the gib goes up. Something that can make or break a high performance home. They were always super accommodating and worked with us to find the best solution for our dreams and budget. I felt we could trust them every step of the way. We're really proud to have built a quality house that will stand the test of time, and we could not have done that without Compound. Go sign that contract. You won't regret it.
