Golden Homes Whangarei

Before you read this review if you own a Golden Homes bought from Whangarei get a ladder and check your roof. In 10 years the rust starts to surface. Hopefully yours is not like mine. Every word is true and can be backed up my email correspondence and hundreds of photos. In early Aug 22 I went up to clean the guttering and noticed 30 rust holes right through the Gerard Roofing Panels. Using the Golden Homes Handover book i called Kelly Silson at Douglas Roofing in Whangarei who was the installer. Said he would be up in a week (he never showed), as i had numerous holes i was more concerned than Kelly so i sent photos by email. His reply was "it is a product issue not an install issue". He put me onto Liam Nichols from Gerard Roofing who i also sent photos to, who managed a visit a week later He also did not see the need to hurry up to check out the damage. He took off 3 panels, took some photos and drove away. I expected a team of people to go through the house as there was 20 damaged panels and 30 holes nope three panels was enough! I called Adele Harrison owner of Golden Homes Whangarei. She told me" to call my insurance company!" The people i paid my money to never showed any real interest until Nov 7th 22 this was only as the finger started to get pointed at them. This was three months after i reported it. During that time , Adele responded to my emails but ' it was not their problem" and i should just wait for Gerard to fix it. Clearly there was very little responsibility being exercised by Adele. Lets be clear, neither Gerard Roofing or Kelly ever crawled through the roof looking for more damage than the few panels removed by the Gerard team. Then in October 22 Gerard sent the roofers up for what i will call the bandaid repair this includes that we now were going to have two different color panels on our roof. I did not trust the process up until now so i was front and center at the top of the scaffolding when they removed the panels and the roofer and i were shocked as to the amount of rust that traveled up further to the purlins and outriggers. I called Adele , the roofer call Liam. I figured they would stop and come up with a new plan. Nope, Liam instructed the roofers to go and buy some rust proofing material to slow down the rust. Adele did nothing to help, rust proofing was ok with them It was evident Golden Homes did not have my best interest at heart. After i sent photos of the extensive damage the repair was stopped. Adele sent a team on Nov 7 22, 3 months after they knew about it! From this point i was "politely fobbed off " by Adele until March 13 23. During this time i frequently prodded Adele with when? The replies always had a reason for not being ready. Finally we were given and a date of March 13 23. The scaffolding people showed up late, truck ran out of fuel, then bent my gate and used the property bush as a toilet. I had to insist Adele put in a toilet for the various crews to use, begrudging it was done as in Adele's words "they could drive to the lovely Cable Bay Store". They started to build a structure of scaffolding which included many many tons of steel, wood ,materials and a white plastic roof. I contacted Adele and said my decorative patio was not designed to handle such weight. Basically it was the only way they were going forward and that is that. What could i do ? A house is only as good as it's roof. Sure enough my concrete developed large cracks. My guttering was bent in 3 places and the down pipes had to be resealed. Roofer forgot to screw down a couple of panels and came back 3 times to remedy dents etc. During the repair the white plastic roof leaked into our open roof cavity, Brad from Golden homes was contacted, Adele did not respond. Inside the roof was to be checked by Brad this was never done. The repair was completed July 23 23. Adele told me it was the roofers fault , Brad from Golden Homes said, he was pissed off that the Kelly crew were at fault when the roof was installed and were getting paid to do it again. Gerard never admitted anything. Please check your roof.

Golden homes completed our house in time and their after service is fantastic!

It was a terrible construction company that had no responsibility and there was a leak in the garage after my house was built and they didn't have a warranty and they kept pushing it off.

I am even ashamed to recognise as a golden home's customer hence going anonymous. Very poor service. No customer care. Do not even think about going back to them after the house is built infact after payment is done. They don't take any responsibility and says maintenance is customer's responsibility after an year. Horrible experience.
