Macreadie Builders undertook a small extension and renovation of our 1910's bungalow, negotiating the labour and material challenges of Covid in the last two years. With an old house, we expected challenges, and there were. The quality of workmanship, friendly approach and flexibility to accommodate changes along the way resulted in Macreadie delivering us a lovely home. We would definitely recommend Joel and Macreadie Builders.

Joel managed our build amazingly through some extremely testing times! We started in November 2021 during Level 3 Covid restrictions, with a great, tight-knit team. Due to his foresight, we weren’t affected by the GIB shortage. The Auckland Anniversary floods and Cyclone Gabrielle took things to the next level, and Joel was checking up on our site even in the midst of having to evacuate from his own home. Joel and his team were extremely patient and accommodating, always happy to explain what was happening. I had many comments from neighbours who appreciated how considerate they were. When there were issues, Joel was always very tactful and polite. The atmosphere was always cheerful and welcoming, and they were careful to keep disruption to street parking to a minimum. Joel is very honest and trustworthy. This helped to reduce one of the big stressors of building; we knew that he was always trying to get us the best deal, and appreciated the transparency with billing. We love our new house, and wish Joel and Jess all the best for their future projects!

I had my bathroom renovated by Macreadie Builders Sept 2019. Joel and his team did a fantastic job from start to end. Joel had open communication through out the whole project, Jess organised all the sub traders and kept me informed. I didn’t have to worry about a thing just had the fun part of choosing tiles vanity and shower. They cleaned up and left the place immaculate at the end of each work day and I couldn’t be happier with my amazing new shower. Absolutely love it. Would highly recommend this team. Thank you guys.

Joel & his team were exceptional throughout what turned out to be a very challenging complete renovation & extension of our house. From day one we were presented with a large number of difficulties, consent process & architectural challenges, and hidden issues with the existing house. Joel’s open communication, can-do attitude, and ability to see opportunities in difficult situations made what could have been a disastrous process into a doable one & the end result far exceeds what we expected. We now have a bespoke home that is quite stunning, in which all of the spaces flow & work beautifully together. And my family are still talking to each other. We can’t recommend these guys highly enough!!

Hi, we are Lee and Jeff. We choose the end of 2019 to start our renovation. Before that there was at least a year of preparation with our builder and architect. We had seen Macreadies building on our street. We approached the homeowner and they were very happy to recommend Macreadies. We approached Macreadies and spoke to Joel Macreadie. After two years of knowing Joel we can say he is a warm, enthusiastic and talented builder and person. His communication skills are solid and he had/has a great team of builders who come with various skills and who are suited to a variety of projects. We understood from the beginning, that renovations are never straight forwarded and come with many complications. Joel and his team were always an intricate part of resolving challenges. Covid was a challenge! We all went the extra mile when it came to Covid and are thankful for having had Macreadies on our team.
