Tom had previously completed some renovation work on a property of ours and we were very happy with his work, so when we decided to do a major renovation to our living room, kitchen and entrance way, Tom was the first we called. Tom came to our home to discuss the project and because there was structural work involved, he recommended an architect who was also excellent and in the end the council permit came through quickly. Tom began the project on time and we enjoyed his friendly and cheerful manner, but more importantly, he was knowledgeable and the quality of his work was outstanding. He completed the project on time and on budget, and he also had an array of high quality contractors. We cannot thank Tom enough for his outstanding work and we are thrilled with the final result. Nothing was a problem and he offered good suggestions on fine tuning the construction. We enjoyed his good humour around the workplace, and his good organisation and attention to detailof the project and tidiness around the workplace. This was important for us as it was mid-winter and we still lived onsite, and therefore Tom made it as easy as he possibly could for us to navigate the construction work. We would thoroughly recommend Tom as a high quality and knowledgeable builder, who is easy to work with, very approachable, and a nice person. As a family person myself I loved occasionally sharing our experiences of raising children. It all just added to making the whole experience of living through a major renovation very manageable.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Tom on two separate occasions, and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled builder. Our first project with Tom was a very successful kitchen and laundry renovation. We didn’t think twice about calling him again when we recently uncovered extensive water damage in our bathroom requiring a complete bathroom renovation. Tom is a great collaborator—always happy to listen to our ideas, while also offering practical suggestions of his own. He has a knack for finding creative solutions in challenging spaces, and carries out the work efficiently and on schedule. He also has a fantastic team of sub trades. We are grateful to have found a friendly and reliable builder we can trust.

Patchett Builders are simply fantastic. I'm so glad I engaged Tom as the builder for my new home. He is honest, totally trustworthy, flexible, an excellent communicator, and is an outstanding builder who delivers top quality workmanship. He is highly experienced on top end builds, and I believe he translates the same level of care and quality to whatever job he is undertaking. Tom has relationships with some excellent sub-contractors and managed them really well throughout the build, which overall, was a fun rather than stressful process. I couldn't be happier with my new home and highly recommend Tom for any building work.

Very slow progress from Patchett, who seems more interested in socialising than doing the work. He is what we call a ‘camper’ in the building industry (they set up camp on your building site). Toms behaviour on site was quite cringeworthy. He would subtly try to drop hints to people that he is married to a Maori woman (I am not sure what he was trying to achieve by doing this). Aside from this, his workmanship and building skills are good, so if he can get motivated and act more professionally on site he will be okay. If you do hire Patchett Builders, make sure it is a QUOTED job. Do not agree to an hourly rate.

Being a structural engineer, I’ve worked with many builders, and I can honestly say Tom and his team at Patchett Builders are among the best. They operate with integrity, pay great attention to detail, and deliver a high-quality finish every time. Their worksites are always tidy, and they’re considerate of their clients’ needs. Top-notch builder!
