Prendos New Zealand Limited

I unfortunately had to use Prendos during a new build in Central Otago due to multiple defects and breaches of contract. A Prendos senior Building Surveyor quoted for onsite visits and a full inspection report $5.k then during the Adjudication altered his report without discussion and emailed his invoice of $17,827.88 without any admission or valid reason to the excessive invoice. Claimed this would be a "slam dunk" that I wouldn't have to pay the builder anything further due to his expert report! And findings. He would deal directly with the adjudicator and answer any questions so I had to pay this in full. This Prendos expert then had the audacity to send me another bill over $2.k for this response. His report covered the major defects he found and the structural defects would require a Structural engineer and Quantity Surveyor. Prendos lay claim that they also have the best experts in these fields!! The Building Surveyor said he works with a Structural engineer and QS in Prendos so again they quoted the works and remediation solution I accepted with a Prendos plan in place. Weeks later this so called Prendos senior Building Surveyor completely disregarded his own report that I had paid excessively for. These Prendos experts failed to provide the agreed solution/report failed to support their client and failed to act professionally with integrity. Prendos state they are a RICS regulated firm, they claim globally recognized standards of expertise, adhere to the strict code of ethics and standards of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. However when I raised my concerns about this Prendos senior Building Surveyor and the level of his dishonesty and unprofessionalism with facts and evidence after receiving no assistance from the owners of Prendos NZ I emailed RICS directly and they have responded by stating whilst Prendos NZ is a registered member of RICS Ivan their Senior Building Surveyor is NOT a member and therefore they have no jurisdiction. Rory one of the owners of Prendos offered free assistance when this senior Building Surveyor abused his position and when I needed my expert the most, to professionally provide supporting evidence covering his report, he failed his client the home owner. I have been left with an unfinished new build with illegal structural restricted building works without any correct consent process. The costs involved have been excessive the stress has been considerable and I am still living this nightmare of a failed new build through no fault of my own. Prendos advertise claiming they are a RICS regulated firm claiming they have the best industry practices and expertise, adhering to the strictest code of ethics and standards therefore it is unbelievable that their most Senior Building Surveyor is not registered and does not deliver to any standards advertised but yet continues to work for Prendos NZ. I can't load any lower than 1 star on this review!

Absolutely horrible service. Got a valuation done just about a month ago, feedback from three different lenders all commented on how confusing the report was. Report was done by Rosie and she had it checked with her superior who gave the ok. So basically even the senior is horrible at what he/she does. Don’t go for this company, opt for someplace else. And they charged over $2k for it. Absolutely horrible experience.

Horrible company with poor skillset & absolutely disgusting work ethics. Got a commerical Lease valuation through Prendos back in 2013. We recently found a serious error in their valuation when we listed the premises to lease through a leasing agent - Prendos measured the size wrong by 27sqm in Auckland cbd (they wrote 80sqm for 53sqm). Been wrongly charged for over a decade because of this valuation. Emailed Prendos on 11th March 2025 about this and had no reply whatsoever. We will take a legal action. Can't even believe they are qualified. Terrible experience. I'd look elsewhere for valuation if you need it done properly.

I highly recommend the Prendos team. Prendos supported us through a very complicated building process, with numerous challenges across all aspects of the engineering and construction process. The Prendos specialists (Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors) all patiently reviewed each issue and recommended advice and solutions that were always practical, and accurate. With out the knowledge, advice, levelheadedness, capability, and especially industry credibility Prendos brought to the table, the result would have been far from positive and far more costly. Their commitment was above and beyond. The fees paid are negligeable compared to the value delivered. So… thank you, Prendos Team!!
