SO Renovate

We engaged So Renovate to complete an extension on our home and were really happy with the whole process, from working early on with Brett and then later on with Remington and the site team. They worked with us to keep our tight budget in check and were transparent with any variation pricing. Communication was always good and the guys on site were great to deal with. The quality of the build was to a high standard and i would fully endorse them to anyone looking for a residential builder.

If I could give 0 stars... I am aghast So Renovate is trading again. They went into liquidation on our job, with poor workmanship unresolved. We discovered that the project manager had not sent off the insurance documents they said was in place for our project so we we have no cover to rectify their poor work, which the previous directors are aware of. Even allowing for variations - project twice as long and 50% over their cost estimate, with flow-on costs in rent etc. while we were out of the house. 2 years later we have a hole in the dining room ceiling where the toilet has leaked because the water pipes were not fitted correctly. None of our brand new joinery was fitted correctly, and the manufacturers won't help as it was installed by So Renovate. and so the list goes on... Check out the liquidators reports on the company register and approach with caution. Make sure you get real references. If it really is a new outfit I don't understand why you would want to continue using a name with such a poor reputation?

Engaged SO Renovate on the recommendations from our Architect and could not be happier with the outcome. We had an extensive reclad project, including some remediation work, plus took the opportunity to do some modernisation and improvements to our home. Their quote was similar with others we had obtained, but I was impressed by the level of detail to their quote and their cost control/detail over variations as they arose. Their contractors and Project Manager, Brett Beckham, worked in well with us and our electrician who was doing other work at the time, plus we survived the Auckland Anniversary rains and Cyclone Gabriel half way through the project! Completed in Sept 2023 thanks especially to the builders (Sam and his team). Would highly recommend them. Note: they are not connected to SO Renovate (2017) Ltd that the negative reviews relate to.

SO Renovate under new ownership have been using my services on many of their projects now and i highly recommend them. Their project managers and builders are amazing and highly knowledgeable making the renos or new builds go smooth. Their end product is exceptional Keep up the good work team

So renovate did a great job on our house reclad. The team were great to deal with, we an awesome couple of carpenters that just worked so hard every day for the duration of the build and all the subs were great also. I found out about So Renovate through a neighbor around the corner who had his house completed by them and I was really impressed with the result. His feedback was great and was the final decision for me to run with them. Highly recommended. Thanks Brett.
